Summer Boy

Barefoot through grass when I was a boy

A stick on a string my only toy

Speeding past Grandma’s chicken coop

Toes squishing rooster poop

Days of summer simmer my heart

Shade and shadows by an old flower cart

‘Twas when lad and summer played as one

Carefully nurtured by old man Sun

  2. Summetime as a kid were always a blast. Being outside doing stupid kid things. Damming the stream, riding bikes and going on a vacation to someplace new. Yup, good times.

    • We were too poor for vacations and I didn’t have a nearby stream for most of those years but the woods and fields got plenty of attention. Old barns were a favorite play place.
      Thanks, Mark.
